Applicants should upload 4 to 8 pieces of original artwork. Here are the requirements for 2025:
Required Pieces
Self-Portrait – Drawn from observation using pencil and paper (looking in a mirror).
Still Life of at Least 3 Objects – Drawn from observation using pencil and paper (objects arranged in front of you).
Figure Drawing – Draw a person (friend or family member) in a natural pose. Must show full figure with realistic proportions.
Additional Works (Pieces 4–7)
Students may include up to 4 more pieces. These can be created using any medium (drawing, painting, digital art, sculpture, photography, etc.).
Creative Assignment (Optional)
Schools like Art and Design HS, LaGuardia, and Frank Sinatra School of the Arts may require a creative prompt.
For 2025, one example is: Draw a “Fantastical Sandwich” using your imagination. Show unusual details, creative toppings, and a unique setting.
Additional Material: Student Introduction
In addition to the portfolio, applicants must submit a short video introduction (up to 3 minutes) OR a written explanation (up to 500 words). Students should discuss:
