Fiorello H. Laguardia High School: Accepted Portfolio

Every year around this time, we receive increasing inquiries about how to prepare for Specialized Art High School like LaGuardia.
In the case of LaGuardia, they hold “auditions” as part of their application process.

Emma, our student last year, prepared her portfolio with us in several Private Lessons course for her portfolio pieces.

Emma in the making!

For the art audition, applicants are expected to bring a portfolio pieces in a variety of mediums and to complete the following on-site drawing assignments:

1. drawing the human figure from observation
2. drawing a still life from memory
3. creating a drawing in color based on imagination

For specialized art high schools like LaGuardia, Frank Sinatra, High School of Art and Design, it is important to show not only the student’s interest and passion, as well as some foundational skills.
